Solidarity among persons is very important. In fact if everybody followed
the principle to do to his neighbour what he would like to receive from the others, there would be much less brutality
in the world. Nevertheless, not so rarely we can see examples of solidarity: there are groups of people called 'médicins sans
frontiéres' who reach the most devastated countries risking their oun life but saving the others' without having anything
back.

Solidarity is a feeling of brotherhood, moral and material reciprocal aid towards
people in need. Nowadays it also shows itself in several forms as in the help that volonteers give as well as FAO supplying
with food and clothes the poor all over the world or the operations of Emergency to help people in countries where there is
war. However, I believe that solidarity can also be helping our neighbour daily with little attentions.

I was surprized and amazed by the incredible
reaction of the world after the tragedy of the Tsunami last December. All the people
of different continents, races and religions offered help to the victims of the disaster. There are many reasons for this
worldwide solidarity:
- first of all the incredible number of people
of different nationalities (many of them were tourists on holidays),
- it was strange for the world to imagine
that those paradises became hells in a few seconds.the period in which the tragedy occurred,
-It happened on St. Stephen's Day when most of
the Christian cvountries are celebrating Christmas time, a period in which we use to think more about people who suffer and
the way to help them. In my opinion we should go there giving them the tools to rebuild their 'lost paradise' choosing
them as our destination for our next summer holiday.

In these last months the value of solidarity has become really
important because of what happened in Indonesia. Helps arrived from all over the world. The most famous people gave a lot
of money and lots of concerts were organized. Even the telephonic companies did their part allowing us to give
money through calls and phone messages.
I know in that land it will be very hard to build again the
economy and go back to normal life, but thanks to the helps received from the other countries they will be able to organize
their new way of living.
It will need years and years to return to an almost normal
situation but I strongly believe in human capabilities.
